Weather data

We maintain an important flood forecasting and warning system that monitors river and weather conditions 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.

Weather forecasts are monitored regularly to detect conditions that could cause flooding in the Grand River watershed.

Gauges and monitoring stations are located throughout the watershed that provide real-time information on weather and river flow conditions.

These stations include:

  • 24 rainfall stations,
  • 4 total precipitation stations, measuring snow, rain and mixed precipitation
  • 15 air temperature stations

We also monitor barometric pressuresnow depth, and wind speed which help with decision-making around flood and reservoir operations.
