Conservation lands

Our conservation lands are set aside for passive uses such as hiking, bird watching, photography, and similar activities.

In many cases, these important lands offer habitat to a wide range of bird, plant and animal species.

These lands have no entrance fees and no staff members are on site. Services are limited and may include only a parking lot, garbage containers and information signs.

These areas are supported, in part, through donations to the Grand River Conservation Foundation.

Please be advised that these properties are not maintained in the winter season.

Please follow these rules to protect the lands and their inhabitants:

  • Stay on marked trails.
  • Don't disturb the wildlife.
  • Use the garbage bins provided or take your garbage with you.
  • Dogs must be on a leash of two metres or less. Please clean up after them and dispose of dog waste in garbage cans or take it with you. There are no leash-free zones on GRCA-owned land.

Grand River Conservation Areas

We also operate 12 paid-admission areas, called Grand River Conservation Areas, that offer a broad range of recreational activities including campingswimmingpaddlingfishing and more.
