All March break camps and activities cancelled

Effective Monday, March 16, the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is closing all of its nature centres to the public and cancelling all March Break Camps in light of recent developments in Ontario due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will spend almost $36 million this year on programs that protect life and minimize property damage from flooding and erosion, improve the health of the Grand River watershed, connect people to the environment through outdoor experiences and manage its land holdings in a responsible and sustainable way.

There may still be snow on the ground, but watershed residents can get a jump on ordering trees from the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) for planting this spring.

The 2020 camping season is just around the corner and the Grand River Conservation Authority camping reservation system will be open for reservations online and over the phone on March 3.

The overall flood risk in the Grand River watershed this spring is moderate to high, with the highest potential risk for flooding along the Lake Erie shoreline due to current lake levels.

Applications are being accepted for grants for schoolyard and community environmental projects offered by the Grand River Conservation Authority and the Grand River Conservation Foundation.

It was a ground-breaking day for the Grand River Conservation Authority, the Grand River Conservation Foundation and the Rotary Club of Guelph on November 4 when members from the Club’s Rotary Forest Committee put shovels in the ground to celebrate the start of the Rotary Trail.
