    Spend time outside with Mother Nature for free at Rockwood Conservation Area on Sunday, May 12 for Mother’s Day.

    After a late start to spring, the Grand River Conservation Authority is offering free day-use admission for all visitors to Rockwood Conservation Area on Mother’s Day.

    It may not quite feel like spring yet, but another sure sign of it is just around the corner. On Wednesday, May 1 the Grand River Conservation Authority swings open the gates for their 2019 camping and recreational season.

  • GRCA News: Warning booms at GRCA dams being installed

    The Grand River Conservation Authority annually installs warning booms or white buoys upstream of GRCA dams to warn paddlers, anglers and boaters to stay away from the dams.

    This is one of many safety procedures developed by the GRCA to reduce the risk for people who enjoy water activities on local reservoirs and waterways.

  • ‘Spring Forward with Stewardship’ workshop to be held Wednesday, March 20

    The Grand River Conservation Authority is hosting a free workshop on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, where Forestry Specialists will be speaking about ways for landowners to protect and enhance the natural features on their properties. The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wellington County Museum and Archives (0536 Wellington Rd. 18, Fergus ON).

  • March Break Adventure Day Camp at Apps’ Mill, Laurel Creek and Shade’s Mills nature centres

    There are still spots available for March Break Adventure Day Camp at nature centres in Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and Brantford.

    Camp activities from March 11 to 15 may include snow shoeing, snow sculptures, animal tracking, feeding the chickadees and campfires.

  • Grand River Parks set to take reservations March 1 - Hillside online only February 28

    The 2019 camping season is nearly here and the Grand River Parks camping reservation system will be open for reservations online and over the phone on March 1.

    The reservation system at www.grcacamping.ca provides 24-hour online reservation service until mid-October, when the camping season closes.

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will spend more than $35 million this year on programs that protect life and minimize property damage from flooding and erosion, improve the health of the Grand River watershed, connect people to the environment through outdoor experiences and manage land holdings in a responsible and sustainable way.

  • Restoration work continues on Brantford grassland habitat

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), in partnership with the City of Brantford, is focused on helping grassland habitats make a comeback in southern Ontario. Grassland habitats support a number of grassland-specific bird species including the Eastern Meadowlark– a threatened species that has been recorded in and around the City of Brantford.
