  • Additional Grand River Parks open early to provide more local outdoor options

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is taking steps to help support the mental health and well-being of watershed residents by providing additional opportunities to get outdoors while staying local this spring. Effective April 23, all Grand River Parks, with the exception of Elora Quarry, will open for limited day-use access ahead of the previously scheduled May 1 opening date.

  • GRCA conservation areas set to take online reservations beginning April 6

    Camping season opens May 1 with restrictions

    The 2021 camping season is just around the corner and the Grand River Conservation Authority campsite reservation system will be open to take reservations online beginning April 6.

    The reservation system at www.grcacamping.ca provides a 24-hour, online-only reservation service until mid-October, when the camping season closes. 

  • GRCA board approves 2021 budget

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will invest almost $32 million this year on programs that protect life and minimize property damage from flooding and erosion, improve the health of the Grand River watershed, connect people to the environment through outdoor experiences and manage its land holdings responsibly and sustainably.

  • GORBA trails at Guelph Lake temporarily closed for tree maintenance

    The GORBA (Guelph Off-Road Bicycling Association) trails and public trails south of the Guelph Lake dam and north of Victoria Road South, will be temporarily closed on February 16, 17, 18 and 19th. The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be undertaking tree maintenance in preparation for trail improvements being supported through donations from the Rotary Club of Guelph and the City of Guelph.

  • Section of Elora Cataract Trailway temporarily closed for tree maintenance

    A section of the Elora Cataract Trailway in Wellington County will be temporarily closed on February 3, 4 and 5th in order to undertake hazard tree maintenance along the trail.

  • Chris White appointed GRCA Chair, Sue Foxton appointed Vice-Chair

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) has a new chair and vice-chair. Chris White, Mayor of Guelph-Eramosa Township and Councillor in Wellington County, has been appointed Chair and Sue Foxton, Mayor of North Dumfries Township, has been appointed Vice-Chair.

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is offering a series of online webinars this winter with a focus on sharing information about how rural landowners can protect and enhance the natural features on their property.

  • Some Grand River Parks open for limited winter access; Administration Centre closed to the public

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be maintaining limited access at a number of conservation areas this winter; however, restrictions will remain in place to help protect staff, watershed communities and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

  • Farm grant program supports farmers in partnership with municipalities

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), in partnership with local municipalities, supports farmers taking action to improve and protect water quality in the Grand River watershed. The GRCA’s Rural Water Quality Program (RWQP), funded by Wellington, Brant, Oxford, Haldimand and Dufferin counties and the Region of Waterloo, supports projects that help producers make their farms more resilient, while helping improve downstream water quality.

  • GRCA undertakes Brantford ice jam mitigation feasibility study

    The Grand River Conservation Authority is undertaking a feasibility study to investigate methods to reduce ice jam potential in the Grand River through Brantford. The study is being carried out in partnership with the City of Brantford and Ecosystem Recovery Inc. has been retained as the study consultant.
